At Celebrate Hope, we understand that the negative impact of drug and alcohol addiction reaches far beyond the individual. Spouses, children, siblings, parents and close friends are often entangled in the addict’s destructive web of chemical dependency. Because addiction permeates every relationship, our Christian rehab center believes family involvement is an integral part of healing and lifelong sobriety. Our intensive three-day Family Program empowers loved ones through education, Christian counseling, and workshops that build a solid foundation for the future.
Families come to Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation looking for answers and help for their loved ones. In many cases, family members are so concerned with the alcoholic or addicted person, they neglect their own needs. Our faith-based recovery process recognizes that God wants to heal and restore the entire family—not just the addict. By getting help for themselves, family members can learn to replace feelings of guilt and shame with a healthy dynamic that fuels positive change.
Caring for someone who is obsessed with substance abuse takes a heavy toll on all aspects of your being—physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. Even if the addicted family member is still in denial or refuses treatment, you don’t have to suffer in silence.
Physically, you’re susceptible to stress-related illness. You may experience decreased appetite, sleeplessness, or disinterest in activity and exercise.
Mentally, you’re forgetful, preoccupied and have a difficult time concentrating because you’re obsessed with the addicted person. You may make excuses, minimize or hide evidence of abuse.
Emotionally, you experience anxiety, fear, loneliness, anger and depression. You may overreact to minor incidents because of pent up frustration or other underlying feelings.
Socially, you disconnect yourself from people or hobbies that were once enjoyable.
Spiritually, you lose faith and hope in God. You may even go against your conscience to protect the addicted person.
As an unwilling participant in the whirlwind of addiction, you may experience tremendous pain and isolation. Participating in our Family Program helps you release the burden and stress, while gaining valuable tools and skills that give you a restored sense of sanity, peace and support. Through the Family Program at Celebrate Hope Christian rehab, it’s our desire that you:
- Better understand addiction and view it as a disease
- Discover family roles in addiction and recovery
- Realize and prevent enabling behaviors and codependency
- Establish and protect healthy boundaries
- Overcome feelings of denial, guilt, fear or shame
- Practice effective communication and conflict resolution
- Apply Al-Anon recovery principles
- Encourage healing and healthy habits
Hope for the Family
Our Christian Rehab Family Program provides seminars and workshops in a group setting with multiple families. This gives all families the opportunity to form a mutual network of love and support, where all members can comfortably share and express their feelings. Interactions and fellowship during the three-day sessions will enable participants to foster deeper appreciation and understanding of one another—but, more importantly, realize they’re not alone in the struggle to end alcoholism or drug addiction.
In addition, families will learn the principles of the 12 Steps of Al-Anon. All family members are encouraged to attend Al-Anon meetings and discover how to reclaim their lives and repair their fragmented family unit. These meetings provide a safe and secure environment for families to share challenges and infuse hope in others who are experiencing similar situations.
A successful transition back to a drug-free life is not always easy—for the addict or the family. But, by relying on God’s healing power to transform the whole family, there is hope for a new and fulfilling life! Call us today to inquire about Celebrate Hope Family Program, to schedule a tour of our California-based residential facility, or to learn more about our Christian substance abuse rehab treatments.
The Family Program is open to anyone who has a loved one in active addiction or recovery, and is ready for personal healing. It’s best suited for persons aged 13 or older, including spouses, partners, children, parents, siblings, relatives and close friends. Your loved one does not have to be enrolled at one of our faith-based rehab center at Celebrate Hope in order for you to participate.
Schedule
Family Program is offered once a month, starting at 10 a.m. on Friday and concludes at 5 p.m. on Sunday. To get the most out of the sequential sessions, participants are expected to attend all three days.
The fee is $500 per family, up to 3 participants. Each additional person is $150. Because space is limited, advanced prepaid registration is required. Full payment is due at least 10 days prior to the program date. Cancellations received less than 10 days in advance are not refundable, but you may reschedule for another program date. You may pay by cash, check or credit card. For more information or financial arrangements, call Penny Carlsen at 866.930.HOPE (4673) or penny@hopebythesea.com
Confidentiality
All sessions are confidential. Who attends and what is said during the Family Program is private information and should not be discussed with anyone. An environment of trust is vital to allow participants to open up and receive emotional support of their peers. If you gain information that enhances your life, we encourage you share it with others.
